What & who
The Toledo African American American Chamber of Commerce (TAAC) is dedicated to supporting African American-owned businesses and fostering economic development within the Black business community of Northwest Ohio. Legally registered as a 501(c)(6) business league (EIN 45-2667834) with tax-exempt status since September 2011, our primary mission is to promote business opportunities, alliances, and advocacy for African American entrepreneurs. As featured on wtol.com and supported by organizations like smallbusinessmajority.org, we are committed to driving positive change.
What we do
TAAC provides comprehensive business support and advocacy, creating and expanding opportunities for Black-owned businesses by connecting them to contracts, resources, networks, and a powerful policy voice. We forge partnerships and joint initiatives, such as our collaboration with Women of Toledo and the Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to launch a region-wide mentoring program. Our monthly workshops, highlighted on wordpress.thetruthtoledo.com, equip business owners with essential tools for growth and sustainability. We also actively promote Black-owned businesses, serving as a key resource for local media coverage.
Why it’s important
The Black business community in Toledo faces unique obstacles, including access to capital, networks, and procurement opportunities. TAAC is essential in leveling the playing field. By building alliances across sectors, we help integrate Black-owned businesses into broader supply chains and regional economic development efforts. For those engaged in tech, business scaling, and startup ecosystems, TAAC offers a meaningful partnership and entry point for outreach, collaboration, and community impact in the minority business space.
